Limits and compatibility
- WebP is saved with quality 85. The result is usually lighter than a JPG or PNG, but not always: the numbers after the conversion tell you.
- Some older programs cannot open WebP files.
- To go the other way, write “convert to jpg” or “convert to png” in the box.
- HEIC, GIF and AVIF are not accepted yet.

Frequently asked questions
Is WebP always smaller?
Not always. It often is, but a small or already well-compressed image can come out similar or larger. The result shows the real sizes.
Can I convert WebP back to JPG?
Yes: drop the WebP files and choose Convert to JPG, or write “convert to jpg”.
Can I convert and compress in one go?
Yes: write for example “under 200kb in webp”. It becomes a single step that saves WebP under that weight.
Where can I use WebP?
Current browsers show it, and many websites and content systems accept it. Some older desktop programs do not.
